A light blush played on the brunette’s cheeks as Caleb spoke of about not getting a good night’s sleep without her and filling the weekend with hope of waking up in each other’s arm every morning. The idea had Avery swooning where she stood, this getaway from her family and certain friends was what she needed. At that moment she connected her lips back with the blonde boy and continued to deepen what they had started. His taste was like honey in her mouth and she loved every moment of it. As soon as she thought of it, the word began to run around in her head again. ‘Love’ was something the tiny girl hadn’t grown accustomed to yet, but had no problem placing it in the same sentence as Caleb, and meaning it. Especially when she told Jason off and said that she ‘loved’ her boyfriend. It was the first moment that she had verbally said it. Of course she didn’t want that moment to be an argument, but it was spoken and she wasn’t taking it back anytime soon. She needed to tell him how she felt, and it was going to be this weekend rather he was ready or not. This scared Avery a bit making her pulse beat quickly, but hopefully Caleb would feel the same in the end. Almost symutaniously she felt the blonde’s tongue asking for entrance into her mouth and without hesitation she accepted. Their tongues danced for dominace as they always did when it became a passionate interaction. She placed her small hands on his neck and brought him in closer, as she felt her body pressed up against his built chest. Finally both of their lunges decided that air was a bit more neccessary, then the contact of their lips. They separated from one another smiles still plastered on both of their faces, yet out of breath. Caleb did his usual gentelmen thing and picked up Avery’s bag. Their fingers laced together as they walked through the cozy residence of the Pierces. The sight of the home was beautiful and the brunette couldn’t keep her eyes off the scenery that stood before them. “Your home is absolutely adorable.” As she followed Caleb close behind she heard him speak of making food and that it was almost done. Really is there anything this kid can’t do? He dances, sings, is mildly smart, and can cook like a boss. Why is he so perfect? In her mind it was spoken more as a groan. “You really didn’t have to cook for me. I would of been fine with take-out.” A genuine smile creeped on to the brunette’s face. The two lovers crashed comfortably on the couch as they took each other in. Their fingers were a well laced shoe as they made light conversation. A sweet laughter fell from Avery’s lips as Caleb asked about her ‘escape’. “It’s been alright just hanging around by the pool and with my friend Jason. Blaine has been the usual annoyance, but it still doesn’t feel like home without Ev there. We all kind of complete the home and when one of us isn’t there it doesn’t really feel the same. But I’ve been playing with Poe and it makes it a little better. Except I feel a lot better being here with you.” She tried to seem unaltered by saying Jason’s name, even though their recent interaction wasn’t all that friendly. It felt nice having Caleb rub her palm it calmed her down and made her happier when she talked about her family life. It was nice having someone listen to her talk when she was usually the listener in most cases.
Avery was about to ask Caleb about his week when a timer went off. A small pout formed itself on the brunette’s face when Caleb had to excuse himself from the conversation to attend their dinner. Without him on the couch it felt very large for such a tiny person as herself. She turned around on the couch to watch Caleb do his thing, but as he was putting on his mitts, which were absolutely adorable, a vibration came from her back pocket. Glancing at the screen and seeing a text from Jason made her freeze slightly. The phone immediately returned to her pocket as she got up from the couch, ignoring any and all conversation contact with him. She decided to plant herself at the counter as if nothing happened, placing her chin in her hands and propping up on her elbows on the counter. As soon as the blonde turned around he came face to face with Avery, and his face was priceless as he was surprised to see her. A smirk danced on her face as the recognition of seeing his more surprised face for the first time. After all he was the one that came up with all the surprises on most occasions. His comment made her giggle in response. “I guess you are. You never know when I might slip through your fingers and surprise you again.” She made a slight wink in his direction. The tall boy leaned closer and inched his way over to Avery’s lips, who kindly accepted and returned the kiss. “You don’t ever have to apologize cowboy. I like you just like this anyway.” She pecked his soft lips again before looking at the grand pizza that stood before them. “This looks awesome, is it an original Pierce recipe as well?” A mocking tone presented itself before Caleb. Avery still in all smiles as she took in the ocean blue eyes that stood before her.
He couldn’t possibly have been happier to see Avery, showing his delight to see her by kissing her and holding onto her from practically the moment she entered the house. Following the initial greetings he led her through to the living room area, they settled down on the couch and hands found each other again, their fingers lacing instinctively as he asked about her vacation to date. “Yeah I saw the picture, the pool looked pretty comfy,” he grinned, referring to the picture of Avery in a bikini lounging at poolside. “I’m sorry Ev couldn’t get back, I can only imagine what it’s like. If Britt had to stay behind this wouldn’t really feel like a great family reunion.” He sidestepped the Blaine issue, Avery had mentioned on a couple of occasions there were issues between her and one of her brothers and Caleb didn’t want to pry. “I’m looking forward to meeting Poe too.” He began to massage light circles in Avery’s hand with his thumb, he really was just happy to be in her presence and have some physical contact with his beautiful girlfriend.
Their chat halted when the timer on the oven sounded, Caleb excused himself to get up and attend to their dinner. But when he pulled the pizza out of the over and turned back to set it down on the island to cool there she was, chin propped up on her hands and elbows resting on the counter staring wordlessly. It surprised him to see her so close, she hadn’t made so much as a sound when she moved over and he nearly dropped the pizza in the process. Setting it down with a grin he laughed and said he’d have to keep an eye on her, and her suggestion that she might surprise him again drew another laugh. “Ooh, then I can’t wait,” he chuckled, leaning in for another kiss. They had a whole week to make up for, and he wasn’t about to let a second go to waste. “No, no secret recipe this time. Just your basic pepperoni pizza. What would you like to drink? We’ve got orange juice, lemonade, Coke, root beer, water and milk.” The Pierces were simple folk, as evident by the bright country decor throughout the house, and for as long as Caleb could remember they had always been warm and inviting to guests. That meant having a ton of food and drink on hand, not that the family was rich by any stretch but a full fridge was a sign of a full and happy household.
Once Caleb had gotten their drinks, he handed Avery hers and scooped up the tray with the cooling pizza to carry it to the coffee table so they could sit back down on the couch. He turned on the TV, no channel or show in particular and cut the first slice of pizza for Avery. “Here ya go, fresh out of the oven.” They began to eat, eyes never really leaving one another even as they sat and ate in silence. Caleb’s mind once again began to echo the word “love” over and over in his head as he simply watched the bubbly brunette enjoy the food. Before too long they’d settled back into the comfort of the couch cushions with Avery leaning against Caleb’s chest and arms wrapped around her frame continuing to enjoy their dinner. “You know,” he breathed with his mouth close to her ear, “I think this might be the best dinner I’ve had in a while.” Their weekend had gotten off to a great start, with the promise of more to come.
